Question about AQA grade meanings?

So I am 20 years old. I'd like to start an access course in September so I can eventually go to uni next year. However I am still sorting out my grade certificates so I can get on to the access course! Plus, I don't want there to be any trouble with my old GCSE grades if or when I start my university application next year.

So getting to my main question, in 2015 when I got my GCSE results back, I got a C in Maths, and a C in English (or so I thought) but now I'm looking back at the old certificates and it says this -

FULL COURSE ENGLISH LANGUAGE - C

AQA LEVEL 1/2 CERTIFICATE ENGLISH LITERATURE - D

AQA LEVEL 1/2 CERTIFICATE ENGLISH LITERATURE - C

AQA LEVEL 1/2 CERTIFICATE ENGLISH LANGUAGE - D

So uh, I'm confused. What is this "1/2 CERTIFICATE" thing and why does it say I've passed for one thing, and then not the other even though it's exactly the same?

The university I would like to attend next year (hopefully) is Brighton. Their requirements say that at least a pass in English language is needed, so do I have that? Because it says I have a C for it in the full course, but a D in the "1/2 CERTIFICATE" part.

Help please?
I’m pretty sure it’s level 1/2 not half and it says u got a C in full course so
