I’m going for Accounting and finance.
Any students there currently able to let me know what the city is like and the nightlife etc. And how the student union is like and the support available at the uni, as I didn’t get to visit it as I live far away.

Hi there!
So pleased to hear you're coming to study at Kent As you don't have the chance to come a visit Kent it could be worth having a look at some of the virtual tours online of the accommodation and cafes and social spaces so you can get a bit of a feel for what it's like. Here is the link in case you're interested; https://www.kent.ac.uk/hospitality/v...tours/student/

Canterbury as a city is lovely! It is so beautiful with little cobbled streets, loads of places to eat, and shop and lots of beautiful gardens which are great to sit in during the summer. There are two other universities in Canterbury so it has quite a studenty-vibe to it too with lots of bars and several nightclubs. Canterbury is just a 20 minute walk from the university or a short bus ride so it's all easily accessible. In terms of nightlife, as well as several bars and clubs and pubs in town, there are also bars on campus as well as a nightclub called Venue. Venue is great for first years as its just a minute's walk from most of the accommodation so you don't need to worry about finding your way home in the dark. During Fresher's week there are loads of events on at venue too so you might find yourself on campus more for nightlife in the first week.

The student union is really good at Kent, and they provide over 50 sports clubs and loads of societies for students to join. I'd really recommend checking out what clubs and societies you might like as they're all really active on campus and it's a great way to meet new people and make friends.

Student support at Kent is excellent, especially the careers department! The university also offers counselling and mental health services, academic support services, financial support and there is also a medical centre and nurse onsite. There is plenty of support available to students at Kent and it's really worth taking advantage of some of the services on offer because you might never find them for free again and I've personally found it all to be great.

The campus itself is also beautiful! It is set in parkland with lots of ponds, fields, trees and wildlife and also has stunning views over Canterbury from the centre of campus. I've honestly loved my time at Kent and I really hope that you have as good a time as I have had If you have any other questions at all, please feel free to ask, I'm happy to help where I can

No problem at all, thought I'd try and paint you a picture with words seeing as you aren't able to come and see it for yourself before you move in
So pleased you're looking forward to starting at Kent! I didn't stay in Parkwood during my first year but I have several friends who have lived there and they've loved it because Parkwood is so great for socialising and meeting new people because of how the houses are all laid out. I know that all of the 5 bed Parkwood houses have been refurbished either this year or last year so now they're really modern and nice inside. They also have lots of storage Parkwood also has its own student hub called Woody's in it which has a bar, place to eat, small shop, computer rooms, dance studios, common spaces and a balcony with lots of chairs to sit on during the summer.
I think that now the Parkwood 5 bed houses have been refurbished inside, they are actually some of the best value accommodation on campus because not only are the rooms nice but also you're in such a great part of campus. I really hope that you enjoy living in Parkwood, I've heard lots of good things and I'd definitely chose to live there if I had my time again

Hey! Be sure you’re part of the exclusive postgrad Facebook group. People are meeting their course-mates and flatmates there. It should be under Facebook groups, postgrads 2019-2020.
