So basically, I want to go into government or NGO work. And later on would love to become a secondary english teacher.
Would this even be possible without me having done an english degree?

Thank you!

At the moment, it might be possible if you have done English A-level and did an SKE course. However, this will probably change in the future. Alternatively, it might be an option to do a masters in English when you're looking to change careers.

Teaching is a career where your degree subject does usually matter and can influence your employability- this isn't true for many other careers. If you are pretty sure you'd like to teach in the future, you'd probably be better off doing an English degree, and lots of government/NGO jobs will still be open to you.
