Allied Health Care Osteopathy

Hi
My son has just completed a degree and would like to now study osteopathy. SFE will not grant a tuition or maintenance loan as they advise that osteopathy is not on THEIR list of allied health care courses. It is listed on the NHS website as an AHC course so how can we get his course funded? We are going round and round in circles. Any advice gratefully received. With thanks

That is because it is alternative (meaning 'not proved to work') medicine, like homeopathy, aromatherapy and colonic irrigation, not because it is reputable, safe or useful. Are you sure you want him to get into this? You'll be amazingly lucky to find any kind of public funding for it. It would be scandalous if you could.

Hello,

Unfortunately it does have to be on our official list in order to attract funding.

Are there any part time degree courses in this subject available?

If so, we can check the database to see if it qualifies as a part time exception course. We'd need the full course details or a link to the course itself to check.

Warm Regards, Dean.
