I want to study history and political science at Birmingham university, I’m predicted As and Bs for my a level subjects but I got terrible grades at gcse, 6 Cs (4s and 5s) and the rest were Ds and one was even an E. I’m scared that I’ll be rejected for those grades. Do Russel group unis care that much about your GCSEs?

your a levels are more important than gcses- it won't stop you from getting to a RG uni but having a stronger set might provide you with an advantage. regardless, there's lots of people who don't get great gcses who still go onto great unis so i wouldn't worry too much about it. just be careful and research all the unis you want to apply to, to see if they have specific gcse requirements beyond a pass in maths + english and 5 gcses.
