Is Sociology A Level Useful?

I Am going to be doing biology maths and psychology and I am not sure what to do for my fourth subject as I am not really sure what I want to do in the future... I am thinking about doing sociology, is it a useful a level to do, if not what would you recommend?
I would recommend not doing a fourth but if it’s a case of your schools curriculum making you take 4 then I would say a subject is only useful to you if you enjoy it and are good at it.

Yeh I pretty much have to take a fourth one and it would be good as then I can drop one if I don’t like it. But I am so stuck for which one to do! I am signed up for chemistry at the moment which would probably be very useful and I am not sure if I should even switch or not. My choices are between sociology french chemistry or further maths

Picking chemistry because it opens doors for courses in uni is a mistake.

Out of all those there, which one do you think you’d enjoy the most.

A Level sociology can help with so many different career paths. I took A level psychology and sociology and have just graduated from a degree in Education, and both subjects were covered heavily in my degree. I’d say go for it!

Chemistry isn’t something i love and I would only pick it to allow myself in to degrees like you say, but I think it would be too dull and I wouldn’t try as hard in it as I don’t enjoy it. I think sociology sounds really interesting so on enjoyment probably that I suppose although I don’t love essays, i don’t mind when I am interested.

If I end up going for something like law, do you think sociology would be useful or at least more useful than chemistry/ further maths? Or would they be equally irrelevant?
Sociology is useful for law as it’s an essay based subject and some parts of sociology can be applied to law.

I would say sociology would definitely be of more use than chemistry or further maths. In sociology you learn about various aspects of society and criminal justice is covered which directly relates to law, especially if you decide you want to go down the criminology and criminal justice route. Even if you wanted to be a lawyer, sociology is still useful for that profession too

Definitely, do not pick Chemistry then, go with sociology.
Thanks everyone for your replies I am going to have a good think about my choices and discuss with family and friends about what I should do on Thursday as my grades will also have some effect on my choices x

I did AQA A-Level sociology and it's a great subject to study at A-Level. Although it's very content heavy, you do learn about a lot of interesting things like sociological theory of the family etc.

With a levels a lot of it depends on what you want to do later on, but personally I’ve found Sociology to be a fairly easy subject, as do a couple of people I know who are studying it. It also ties very nicely with psychology, and would probably be a good one to have on a uni application if you want to do psychology at a higher level, especially if your course includes segments on identity and socialisation.
