HSE (health and safety executive) Trainee Health and safety inspector

I emailed HSE recruitment and they said "Which style you choose to employ when answering the motivational questions would be your decision entirely." So I am guessing it doesn't matter so much and isn't a requirement like in some job applications. Don't think motivational questions really suit the star method in the same way as a competency question like "give me an example of a time you demonstrated...." does.I

Hi, has anyone else received feedback for their assessment centre for the advert that closed on 2nd August 2021? I’ve been placed on a reserve list and wondering if anyone has received an offer.

I think it probably depends on the area you apply for and what everyone else has down as there preferences. Some areas will no doubt be oversubscribed.

I’m still hopeful. Don’t suppose you are applying in Scotland?

Also how long did it take after the last assessment for you to find out if you were successful. I’m hopeful that it will before the end of November 🤞🏻

I have got my oral exercise and role play on Wednesday. I’m starting to think that there isn’t actually any jobs available 🙄

Enjoyed the role play for the first task and the assessor put me ease. Second session was more difficult and the actor was excellent- very unnerving but I thought i was firm.

Anyone else just receive an email saying the previous email they received a couple weeks ago stating they were on the reserve list was sent in error and that after reviewing your application it is no longer successful?!

The email also says they are very sorry and will review their processes to ensure it doesn't happen again... Similar thing happened to people last year by the sounds of it too and a quick Google shows up many other incidents of HSE recruitment doing similar things messing people around.

The funny thing is I messaged them last week and they said I was on reserve for two areas so not really sure what would have changed...

Maybe I should feel lucky as by the sounds of it if they mess people around that they are trying to recruit like this how do they treat their actual staff?
