If they’re graduating July 2020 then they could apply for August 2020 job? Or have I misunderstood?

You’d need to register now and do the sjt etc. Then apply for deanery etc.

Did it? You have to apply more than a year in advance?!

Yeah, if you're abroad, you apply ~1 year in advance and your penultimate year's grades are used for EPM.

Are you eligible for FY2 entry, like most Europeans? If so (and you still want to do F1) and you have missed the deadline, its always possible to do a few locum F1 jobs here and there to get used to the NHS, then apply for an FY2 LAT post and do it that way.

Or you can go in at FY2 level straight away. It takes a lot of adjustment, and drop out rates are higher than UK trainees, but most are fine.
