Applying for a student loan in Scotland Watch
I am a first year student at Strathclyde. Although I have lived abroad for the past 8 years I return to Scotland every year. MY father is on a temporary contract and I am a UK national with a national insurance number and I have family in Scotland and UK. I have been awarded domestic home status from Strathclyde however I have been told I am not eligible for a loan. Does anyone have any advice as I have home status for the university but not for the loan which I will be paying back! Any advice welcome.
What is their sticking point? Residence? Normally they would follow the lead of the university unless they have other reasons to suspect you dont meet the requirements. Returning once a year may not be considered enough. You need to ask.
Unis arent always that thorough.
