My friend was recently caught with an under 16 train ticket, but she is not 16, and only bought it because it was a habit. Instead of coming clean when stopped, she said she panicked and continued to lie, saying she was 15, and gave an incorrect DOB but correct address when asked as she was anxious and didn’t know what would happen if she told the truth, but did not expect to be asked for details. She is now worrying about a letter coming through and about the consequences such as being taken to court and i would like to help put her mind at ease by finding out what might happen if anyone has experienced this before

She will just have to pay the fine for the ticket IF they work out the age difference. Assuming it's a first offense for train tickets. The fine might be 20-100.
