Is it good enough to move away from home for (instead of going to my local also Russel group university).

Basically is UCL worth it, how good is it really? Reputation wise etc...

Obviously depends on the course but in general, top 10 uni in the UK and in the world rankings. Academically, it’s phenomenal and is highly rated for its research. Good career prospects with top companies scouting grads, regular events with top companies that other lesser quality Russel Groups do not have.
Socially, great as well. Lots of people from a wide range of backgrounds (often extremely wealthy), great location for shopping, food, clubbing and just an all round good uni.

Tbh a lot of the top unis have poor student satisfaction because it’s research based unis; so these unis put a lot on the students themselves to carry out their own research, readings and studies which not only explains poor student satisfaction (because students feel they aren’t “being taught” and that “we are doing it all ourselves”) but explains why their degrees are valued more because there’s a lot less spoonfeeding and more emphasis on the skills needed to gain that degree

There’s a lot of misconception that getting into a Russel group is great and that they’re equally as good. The reality is Oxbridge is still god tier, followed by LSE,UCL, Imperial in the second tier, then the likes of Warwick, Durham, Manchester, St Andrews etc (again a slight generalisation depending on your course)

a plausible theory but one without evidence. i was given little spoonfeeding at St Andrews, and we are #1 for student satisfaction, and unis like Durham and Warwick do ok for satisfaction, whereas London ones do not

Ucl is the 7th best in the WORLD. The only unis better in the uk is Oxbridge ( maybe imperial at 9th place) no other uni even comes close. Not Warwick, Durham, LSE. nothin good

Surely education is only one factor for student satisfaction. London rent alone is enough to drop satisfaction levels
