English and German at Uni

Hey guys,

Full circle, I'm deciding to apply for English and German in 2020 and having a year out.

I was wondering if anyone who studies either English (literature or language) or German at Uni could give me some advice about what I need to actually get i.e. stationary, books e.c.t, since I'd like to get a bit of a headstart!

Thanks!

I found that a German language spellchecker on my laptop really helped (my brother found the same for French). It did cost but was well worth it.
Maybe get yourself a German grammar book to get started on improving grammar.
Notebooks will also come in handy - and multicoloured pens for grammar class.
Might be interesting to know if you are starting German from zero or or if you have A-level German. Also, which exact course/unis you are looking at.

Starting with no formal knowledge (no GCSE or A Level, a little self taught)
