Hi 👋🏼,
Is there anyone who can help with this particular maths question?
Finding the gradient of a line given only an angle?
An explanation is much appreciated

The tangent of an angle with respect to the horizontal is the gradient.
tan(30) should be well known as a surd.
NB be careful about the sign.

Use trig and the gradient definition.

Thank you, so I have put tan(30) into my calculator but do I just change the sign because it’s a negative sloping line?

You should know tan(30) as a surd for gcse.
The sign is important. Really it would be tan(-30) or tan(150) measured wrt to the positive x-axis.

I didn’t know that, I sat SQA Nat 5 Maths so didn’t know you had to learn that. Thanks for your help!
