All the yes votes sound familiar to me, although I don't know them enough to give an opinion on them. Wycombe Abbey's probably the most familiar to me - v v high academic results I believe?..

The Abbey, Berkshire
St Swithun's, Hampshire

another medic at my college went to the Abbey.. presumably it's academic..she's very hardworking, but i know little else.. is it religious?

St Swithun's.. aah, i know of their lacrosse team circa my year..impressive facilities - overwhelming impressions of the girls were rah, cliquey & probably just going to be sent to a 'finishing school' & not especially academic.

but then i have very narrow view on both of them, based on the very limited samples i've had!

& i'm originally from hampshire, which may explain it.

or, you could save yourself lots of money & try a state 6th form, also in winchester, with pretty much equally impressive facilities & outstanding results considering it's non selective (other than 5 A-Cs at GCSE) - probably more oxbridge students that st swithuns or the abbey each year too.. & if boarding is an issue.. you can board there. *plug over*

The Abbey isn't in a very nice part of Reading, and Kendrick is regularly right at the top of the league tables for exam results...

charterhouse i've heard of somehow.
wycombe abbey i've heard of because i used to live in bucks.
marlborough i've heard of because i know someone at my uni who went there.

I've only heard of Charter House and Marlborough College out of those ones. I'm kind of acquainted with the guy who teaches violin at the latter... or at least he did last thing I heard!

Kendrick is a State school! But they are all a bit posh, yup

Wellington College, Berkshire - very posh
Charter House, Surrey - *very* posh
Wycombe Abbey, Buckinghamshire - very posh
Marlborough College, Wiltshire - VERY posh (from what I can tell)
The Abbey, Berkshire - not posh
St Swithun's, Hampshire - not exceedingly posh (as far as I know)
Kendrick, Berkshire - not posh

St Swithuns and The Abbey are not that expensive (I think), compared to other private schools. The others (except Kendrick, as it's grammar) are vvvv expensive.

They all get pretty good results, with Wycombe Abbey, The Abbey, Kendrick and St Swithins being particularly good.
