Hiya! :hi: I’m Kei and here I am with a 3rd GYG… If you want to read some old posts, here are my AS and A level ones. To be honest, I was questioning whether I would have the time to keep updating this or even keep up with others’ GYGs but I figured whatever, let’s just make one. The worst that could happen with starting one is just not finishing it, right?

A very special mention to @troubletracking for coming up with the title. And a disclaimer to say I am in no way affiliated with the Kardashians. :nah: Heck, I can’t even name most of them.

To those of you who kept up with my last GYG, thanks for putting up with me and my horribly long and boring posts. :grouphugs: It was mostly me just complaining and procrastinating tbh, so thanks for being there. I don’t know how this year will turn out, being my first year at uni in a different country and all, but with any luck, I should be okay, right? (I don’t think I can actually do this… :cry2:)

So... University...
Spoiler:
Show
I will be reading Natural Sciences at Durham University (Van Mildert College). :woo:

The modules I’m (hopefully) doing are:
CHEM1078 - Core Chemistry 1 (30)
CHEM1087 - Practical Chemistry 1A (10)
MATH1051 - Analysis I (20)
MATH1061 - Calculus I (20)
MATH1071 - Linear Algebra I (20)
MATH1587 - Programming I (10)
MATH1607 - Dynamics I (10)

How this degree works at Durham is you pick your modules up to 120 credits, with at least 60 credits from the Faculty of Science. Not all combinations are available though. Like, I wanted to take CHEM1061 Molecules in Action instead of Programming and Dynamics because it actually looks like a really cool module (and I haven’t touched Python in ages), but its lectures clash with my Calculus I lectures this year (no, I’m not going to drop Calculus I) and I can’t take it in combination with Core Chemistry 2 next year.

Welp, these modules let me progress to a Joint Honours degree in Maths and Chemistry, or I can transfer out to a Maths or Chemistry Single Honours degree at the end of the first year. I’m going to nosy around and see if I can take a language module on the side as well though. It would be nice to take a language, hopefully, Japanese, but seeing as I’m starting from basics anyway, I don’t really mind what it is. :nah:

The Grades
Spoiler:
Show
GCSEs
English Language (7) with Merit in Speaking
English Literature (7) :sigh:
Further Maths (A*)
Biology (A) - 2 UMS! :shakecane:
Chemistry (A*)
Physics (A*)
Computer Science (A*)
Economics (A)
History (A*)
Spanish (A*)
Maths (A*) - taken in 2016
Statistics (A*) - taken in 2016
Arabic (B) - taken in 2015

AS Levels: 4As in Maths, FM, Chemistry and Physics
A Levels: 4A*s (Don’t ask how, I don’t even know how, it was a miracle)

A Plan...?
Spoiler:
Show
:iiam: I actually have no idea what I want to do with my life. There’s an unofficial list of stuff I want to get done by the time I’m 30 but otherwise, there’s not really much. I think my main plan this year is just to go to uni and try not to get kicked out, and hopefully hopefully hopefully come out with a first at the end of the year. :crossedf:

Some Goals
Spoiler:
Show
I thought it might be nice to have some goals to reflect on at the end of the year.

1. Do my best academically! Pretty obvious , but anyone who’s read through my GYGs at any point will know that I can procrastinate a lot, which is a problem. I want to be able to not leave my work or any reading until last minute and hopefully do it when I get it.

2. Be involved! Join societies, clubs, idk… I want to join at least 3 societies and be a consistent part of them. I’m not a very sociable person in real life so doing this will hopefully get me out of my shell.

3. Don’t over-eat. This sounds stupid but being stressed or anxious makes me keep eating, even if it’s past the point where I should stop. I don’t really think it’s an eating disorder, but say if I’ve just had lunch, I’ll still feel hungry to the point where I want to eat again. :sigh:

So yeah, it’s just those

The Episode List
I’ve always had a post index but this year, I thought I might change it up a bit and call them episodes I thought long and hard about how often I wanted to post, and concluded that I will probably post when I want to post This could be every few days or maybe even up to every few weeks :dontknow:

Tagged Lovelies
As with last year, I’m going to make a new tag list, so do tell me if you would like to be on that. I won’t put you on the list unless you explicitly ask to be in it.

So yeah, that’s about it, I think. As always, I’m happy to be a part of this community :excited: With any luck, I’ll try to be more involved and do stuff on time, so here’s to not procrastinating too much!

It was a huge shame but I'm holding onto the thought that if they've excluded it from 2nd year core chem, then it'll probably be covered somewhere
Honestly, I'm hoping it'll work, but it probably won't cos I already used up my 120 credits. Welp, I can still learn Japanese in my own time

Tag me pls
There are limitations, like I have to take modules from at least 2 subjects and no more than 4, but otherwise, there aren't any compulsory modules :nah:
Will do
