So despite the spurious tripe that the BBC have been saying on this, never mind the flagrant lies told by the NYT, this was not an unprovoked attack on civilians but a military response after Israel launched illegal attacks in Syria and in Beirut, the latter being against a civilian target and yet they have the temerity to call Hizbollah the aggressor here? a few ATGM fired at a military target doe snot a terrorist make.

Here is a comment on the situation from one of the leading Analysts in Beirut
More gifts for Nasrallah and Hezbollah care of Israeli leaders: Nasrallah & all Hezb leaders are stressing on "proportionality," the long-term strategic "need for a response" to Israel breaking the previous 13 years of the "Rules of Engagement," and how they want very much to avoid further escalation & war. 1/2
Israeli leaders, by contrast, are talking about a "disproportionate response" and sending Lebanon back "to the Stone Age" should there be any response to the original Israeli attacks. Such rhetoric will clearly not deter the attack itself and thus only serves to likely 1) strengthen perceived rationale of Hezbollah domestically & 2) make the Israelis look reckless to most anyone save for Trump admin & Neo-Cons. How times have changed.

"Foreign Minister Israel Katz on Sunday morning issued a tacit threat that Israel would be forced to wreak destruction in Lebanon if the Hezbollah terror group goes through with its stated plan to attack the Jewish state in retaliation for an alleged Israeli drone strike last week on its Beirut stronghold...
"Blue and White party leader Benny Gantz also responded to the Hezbollah chief, saying in a statement Saturday night: “Nasrallah, have mercy on Lebanon and don’t cause the IDF to return it to the Stone Age. The State of Lebanon will be held responsible for any terror attack committed from its territory.”
