application of number L2

Hi,

Really hope someone can help me.

I am hoping to start studying to be a nurse next year and have currently enrolled on a access to nursing course at my local college.
I have my gcse in English but in math i have application in number at level 2. The college says that this is the old style functional skills. Is this true? I achieved this qualification in 1999 as part as gnvq and have searched the internet looking to see if this stands. I have found that Scotland and wales still have this qualification, but not England.
All I know is I got mine in 2003/04 and it was equivalent to A* to C in Maths.

So are the college saying you'll have to do Maths GCSE alongside the Access course because they don't think your qualification counts?

Thank you for your reply,

My college mentor suggested that universities might not accept it, and i may have to sit gcse maths or level 2 functional skills.

Probably best. Or just speak to the universities you intend to apply to and ask them if they accept it.
