Hi
I am about to start university this month . I have
been awarded student finance to cover tuition and also a full maintenance loan with parent learner allowance.
However i am still unsure about what I am entitled to in regards to housing benefit, council tax and tax credits. I have called both my locks council and tax credits and yet to have a answer.
Can anyone give me some advice please

Thanks

if u live on ur own with only under 16s then u wont pay council tax .. u need t get a council tax exemption certificate from ur uni then take it in to the council.

I did the single parent uni thing a few years back .. one thing u would say is apply tothe uni hardships fund as soon as you can ..I was at DMU and they were so helpful I got about 300 extra a term direct from them ! it's a bit of a long process you have to see an advisor in student services and prove all ur incoming and outgoings but well worth it !
