OP’s potential homophobia aside, I’m interested in this as well.
Whenever I get into arguments with homophobic people their argument is, “it’s not natural”.
How do we define natural though? I mean it has been occurring in nature for thousands of years, doesn’t that make it natural?
Even if it weren’t “natural”, whatever that word even means, how does this indicate that it’s “wrong”? Why do people so much emphasis on whether it’s “natural”?
Yes this means they can’t procreate, but is this really a priority in this day and age? Yes ‘nature’ ultimately leads our existence to mainly revolve around procreation and survival, which you can claim is an argument for homosexuality being unnatural, but again how is this a valid/ relevant argument in this era? Why is it being ‘natural’ even important? Humans created that word and it’s meaning and I don’t see how or why it’d be a definitive criteria on why condoning homosexuality is ‘wrong’ or ‘right’.
Serious diseases that inflict harm are natural. Embracing homosexuality doesn’t technically inflict any kind of pain and suffering (STDs aside that also might occur in heterosexual relationships) or cause an epidemic, so how come it’s so important to people whether it’s natural? Natural doesn’t necessarily mean good.
