why study medicine

Why do so many people want to study medicine?
Some reasons that I can see although not all of these are things that I personally think:
Genuine interest in science
Vocation
Interest in making a difference
Challenging
Problem solving
Teamwork
Stable career path
A career people actually know what it is
Pressure from others
Prestige
Respect
Research
Money
Personal experience e.g. illness or young career etc.

As mentioned these are just some reasons and I don’t actually have all these myself and accept there are plenty of others as medicine is really diverse so most people probably have their own set of reasons that are relatively similar but the combinations of them probably arent
Well summarised! For me it's a mixture of:

Honestly, the amount of students that think Medicine = £££ and hot girls is hyped to meme levels of hysteria.
It is multi-disciplinary, there are so many possible areas to work in once qualified , from GPs to medical reps for big pharma, to clinical research etc etc

it is a challenging and interesting qualification

the salary is pretty good, some hard work required too - then after a few years you can go and work in Australia ;-)

and it "A100" received the highest level of student reported satisfaction for any university course , with "architecture" giving the lowest satisfaction
