Data scientists tend to come from a variety of numerate degree backgrounds; degrees specifically in the area are fairly new. However I believe many tend to have masters or PhDs in some fairly comptuational project; I know someone who went on to become a data scientist after doing a PhD in Astrophysics. Do consider the option of doing an MSc after your degree (either after the MEng, or switching to the BEng; the two routes might affect how much funding you have available for a taught MSc) more specifically in a data science related area. It's pretty common for people to go onto those degrees from a range of backgrounds to specialise into that area.
A background in aerospace engineering should be fine as a first step, although you may want to choose optional modules emphasising maths (especially stats) and/or computational things. You should have plenty of options in the latter realm (CFD is fairly ubiquitous) although for the former you may have a narrower range of options (but if you do an MSc in the area afterwards you'll probably fill any gaps you might have in that area).
