What are the chances of being an Astronaut?

Hey,
As corny as it sounds my dream is to become an astronaut XD. I want to study aerospace engineering work at the European space agency.
What would be the chances to be accepted into the Astronaut Corps?

Higher and higher the fitter, more intelligent and healthy overall you are.
Aerospace engineers don't tend to be the ones who become astronauts, just like they don't really become pilots. It tends to be people from either a science or medical background, though there is the occasional engineer that goes up.
