Should I take a PTY or just defer the year to work

I'm at the university of Surrey (on exchange in my second year) on the Sandwich course (which has a working year in between the second and third year). [Y1: Surrey, Y2: Exchange at NTU, Y3: Work Placement, Y4: Final year of bachelors]

I would pay £1850 for the Working year if I stay on this course, but one of the reasons for doing it is for networking purposes (which I don't feel like I would need) for getting a job afterwards (because they help you find a placement).

But what I could do, is move to the non-Sandwich course, and defer my studies for 1 year (which is allowed for in the regulations). This would mean that I don't pay the £1850 fee, don't have to report back to the university for Job Assessments (since they need to document my work so they can grant the P credits).

There are just two problems:
- Student Finance; I'm not sure how that will work if I take a year off
and
- Does a bachelors degree with 480 Credits (360 [taught] + 120 [work]) have greater value than one with just the 360 credits taught, and a year of work.
