I received what I believe to be my official timetable for University yesrterday, is it normal to do 5 days a week (9-4) at Uni?

Depends what the course is. For some vocational courses yes, or for courses with a large lab component.

Yes, particularly for a good solid STEM course with labs, most days my timetable runs 9-6. It is however usual to have Wednesday afternoons free for sports / societies.
