I am not applying to university at all (due to personal reasons) but I was wondering, how does dentistry and clearing work? Say an applicant never applied through UCAS and got results (sterllar results) in August and they think "oh I might give dentistry a go", how does it work?

I am not applying this year at all. So if I take UCAT after my exams next summer and have work experience done, on results day, can I expect any Dental school in clearing to tak me in? Even if the UCAT score I have to offer them is one that is from that year and not the year before, so they cannot really comapre me with other students, which might mean that they cannot really take me in, as it won't be 'fair'.

No the ucat has to be done in the same year so you would need to take it now. Also dentistry barely enters clearing, unis gave reserve list of those they've interviewed.
