There ended up being a lot of criticism around this last year (Inc by the Government) so these types of offers so "unconditional if firmed" offers are likely to be a lot less common this year - Quite a few universities (i.e. Birmingham as far as I can remember) have said they will stop with these

Yes that’s true, I still know around 4 people from my college who have received offers like this though I’m not sure which unis for, so some places are still doing it. Added on that only around 12 people from my college have received offers so far, so it’s not uncommon yet

Do unis sometimes reduce offers / give out unconditional after their original offers? I was hoping for an unconditional (very optimistic I know lol), but looking at some people here with grades much better of mine not getting any I'm worried :/

Hi there,

I recently received a conditional for Lancaster, but since then they've invited me for an interview in which, if successful, my offer will become unconditional.

So yes, it does happen but it varies; I've only seen it happen on the basis of an interview being given after the original offer

When I applied, only one uni said it could potentially require an interview, could other unis offer me interviews on the basis that if it is successful, I could receive an unconditional (without it previously mentioning the chance of an interview)?

I applied for International Development at King's and since its a BA as well and a subject close to politics could you assume that I would receive a decision for International Development soon?

i don't know how similarly they process applications for different programs. but i think it has to do with the volume of applicants for a certain course - if the volume is high, it might take long. if it's low, then you can expect one pretty quickly. if it's a popular course but you have outstanding credentials, they might offer you a place to try and lock you down (even though you don't have to decide until all your decisions are out). i think it has to do with volume X credentials. at least, that's how i see it. good luck with your application, though! i'm sure it'll be a decision worth celebrating!
