Good afternoon all,

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any updates to phase 2 training for RAF Air Ops Officers, both Controllers and Systems.

From what I know for definite, is both sides of the branch do their Combined Air Ops Module for 3 weeks at RAF Shawsbury, first.

Then they either stay at RAF Shawbury or go to RAF Boulmer to complete the rest of their training, depending on what they’re specialising in.

All I know roughly so far, is for Control, Weapons Controller and Surveillance; it’s 5-8 months. Also apparently for Flight Ops; it’s 14-16 weeks.

I don’t know what happens for Space, as it’s so unclear still online and very hard to find any information about it.

Any help or anything I’ve gotten wrong will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

My advice is to contact your AFCO and ask them to put you in touch with the Air Ops Specialist Recruiting Team at Cranwell. They will be able to tell you all you need to know about the branches, the training pipeline and career development. Good luck.

Not yet, but I’m in contact with an Air Ops Officer and once I’m back in work on Thursday I’ll be getting an update.

I did a quick Google and found this tweet with their phone number in https://twitter.com/RAF_AirOpsRec/st...55232852811776
The only trouble being it's 2 numbers short of a regular phone number so could be some internal number only

Hi Adam,

I did think this after posting. I was asking for the wrong thing on the phone and so after trying for a little bit and explaining what i was looking for the person apologized because we understood one another. I now have the direct number and extension.

Kind regards,

Gavin

Phase 2 after 3 week CAOM, is 5-8 months for surveillance/ATC/Wpns Ctl. Flight Ops is 4 months and Space is Phase 3, 3 months on the job training.
