The Student Room Group

Help

I'm full time student in sixth-form college. in a couple of months i will be 20, i moved from my family a year ago and am not planning to go back. I'm struggling now. I have to get good grades in school at the same time work some part jobs in order to pay rent. Now i can't find the money enough, and every-time am worried one day i might run out of money and evicted from the single room i'm renting. if one thing worries me is; being homeless and i can't stand that. I don't want to stop my education for full time job, i have to finish what i have started. Is there a way i can claim some sort of benefits that would help me pay some part of my rents.

Contact your local council and see if you can apply for housing benefit.

Have had another look and not quite sure how it works. I have seen you cannot apply for housing benefit, but you may be able to apply for Universal Credit.

You need to speak to a benefits expert.
You should be able to get some assistance and probably could have when you moved out before.

Either visit.

Shelter, who can also tell you about local youth housing charities like centrepoint. I dont know which city.

As far as i know i'm eligible, but don't know if this benefits will affect my British application. And i'm not claiming or going to claim in a fraud way. I never do such things

If you are eligible then it wont affect your application.
You need to speak to a benefits advisor as pointed out previously plus you need to make clear what your immigration status is.
