Today is the Global Climate Strike, where millions of young people will be leaving school and adults leaving work to strike in protest of climate change.

The event was inspired by the work Greta Thunburg is doing surrounding encouraging governments to do more to protect the environment, before it is too late.

Are you striking today? If so, let us know what you're up to below!

TSR are not doing very well at covering this, it should be the top feature on the top of the page. Compared to Fresher drinking?

I couldn't for 3 reasons
1) My parents probably wouldn't've let me go to London on a weekday
2) I have anxiety about turning up to those kinda events even though I fully support them
3) I had a Spanish exam today so I couldn't've skipped that.

I'd be striking from nothing except popping to the pharmacy and a one hour uni induction meeting. Sounds like a waste of time and self-disruptive to me.

I mean it’s got 4 threads. That seems enough.

TSR has been promoting environmental threads all September as part of TSR goes green as it stands there are currently 4 threads on this topic 2 of which have been created by a forum helper and a community staff, it's in the poll of the day and a climate Q&A is in the carousel. Plenty of coverage

"No, but I wanted to/I support the cause"

What a surprise, the vast majority voted this (including myself) // tis why I am so pessimistic about the world

Let's be honest, we are all complacently sitting inside a burning room.

No... young people jump on any bandwagon going and should instead be snarling at the wildfires going on in the rainforests. These have been deliberately started by landgrabbers and deny nature any chance to correct the balance.

I haven't seen many young people jumping on a bandwagon to protect pensions.
I haven't seen many young people jumping on a bandwagon about car parking, or potholes.
Young people (like everybody else) support causes they care about, dismissing someone for their age is patronising.

I also see absolutely no evidence that our generation care about the cost and provisioning of mobility scooters.

Shame on us.

It is... Evidence strongly indicates that the best way to keep the elderly fit & healthy is to provide them with activity centres, not throw mobility scooters at them.

I think Greta should also have a go at Mary Poppins. Not only does she advocate feeding sugar to children... but her best friend profits from the wreckless use of fossil fuels.
