Making friends on a gap year

Hi everyone!

I'm on a gap year right now, I just finished my A levels but I didn't feel ready to go to uni this year, so I deferred my entry. I've been feeling a little down recently because all my friends have just moved off to uni (literally all of them) and I don't have anyone else here at home.

I have a part-time job, but it isn't really paying enough, so I think I'm going to look for another one with more hours. Aside from this, does anyone have any tips on how to make friends whilst you're on a gap year? I want to try and go out a bit more, but I get quite anxious about that sort of thing.

Hey! I am in the exact same position as you although this is now my second gap year! I didn't feel ready to go to University as I had planned to this year either. Feel free to dm me!
