Silicon burning’ is a fusion process that occurs in stars just before they collapse.
Each silicon nucleus, mass number 28, initially fuses with a helium nucleus ( 4He).
Give the mass number of the isotope produced and the number of protons and neutrons it
contains.
mass number .................. protons .............. neutrons ..................

Addition is a useful tool to apply at this point. Just keep the protons and neutrons separate to begin with.
