English isn't my 1st language, not an excuse Ik, but I don't understand what emergent means here

An emergent property is a property which a collection or system has, but which the individual members do not have. This means an emergent property is a characteristic something gains only when it becomes part of a bigger system.

In the example of water, this would mean that water may have some characteristics that the molecules in water itself do not have.
