I did biology at the University of Birmingham- and we shared certain modules with biochemistry. The main differences are in the course title names- biochem (can be) much smaller scale (chemical).

Concerning modules, in biology, we had the option to do modules such has evolution and ecology, that biochemists cold not. Equally, biochemists had other (often maths based) modules, that biologists couldn't opt for.

Its all personal preference, personally I was glad I stuck with biology because we had less compulsory modules, and more choice (genetics, evolution, human health, cells, physiology, animal behaviour etc), whereas biochemists often had less flexibility.
