I'm new to IT and all the information my teachers are giving are very vague. What should I do to get a distinction?

It will depend on which spec you are on - the 2010 spec doesn't have any exams whereas I believe with the 2016 spec there are modules that have exams.

When youre given the assignment brief, make sure you read everything that is on it and then include all of that work into your assignment. If your given a minimum word count - make sure you hit it (and if you're given a maximum - don't go over it). Try to do plenty of research for each assignment so that you can include the right amount of detail in your work.
