Medicine graduate entry competitiveness

I've heard graduate medicine entry (e.g. through biomedical science) is much more competitive than undergraduate entry. How much more competitive actually is it, and why is it much more competitive in the first place?

https://www.medschools.ac.uk/media/2357/msc-entry-requirements-for-uk-medical-schools.pdf gives the stats. Doesn't have info for all unis but Birmingham for example is 5.7 applicants for each place undergrad and over 22 applicants per place GEM

Jheeeeez 22 per place? That's ridiculous I would've logically expected it to be less competitive because your accepting more mature people, as mentioned. Thanks anyway both of you

Yeah, you will have to find that post using your superpowers as it is lost to my brain, squeezed out with appraisal prep and new QOF rules!
