Sudden onset of poor health ruining my life

All of my teenage years were a blur, just me wasting my life and sitting alone in my room. I'm finally getting my life on track- I'm in my 2nd year of college doing the sciences (which are pretty difficult but I'm actually understanding it and getting distinctions in all assignments and exams so far), hopefully going to uni next year, and just got my first part time job in a customer service role despite having horrible social anxiety my whole life (which has been improving so much recently!). Last week I scratched my eye and it simply won't heal- it's been over a week and they're usually meant to heal within 3 days. I've been to A&E 3 times in the last week for that, and also for a sudden onset of crippling anaemia which is probably a side effect of the antibiotics. I may or may not partially lose my vision in one eye and have this anaemia long term (it's a very rare type, aplastic, which can be fatal). Not sure how to even feel really. I've spent half the day in hysterics and the other half just numb and reflecting on my life and how I've wasted it doing absolutely nothing. 2nd year of college is much harder and I have much less free time, all of which has been spent being ill or upset, and I'm starting my job soon which might make things worse. At the moment I'm struggling to start an assignment because my head is so fuzzy from the anaemia. Hopefully it will be better by tomorrow but I can't keep wasting so many days not doing my work when I'm assessed periodically throughout the year since I do BTEC. Any advice?
Hi, I hope you feel better soon ❤️
Try not to lose hope
Hello,Yasuda, I saw your message and had to reply I am sorry to hear you are suffering from Aplastic Anaemia and hope that you are getting all the advice you need. If the antibiotics are causing the problem, perhaps it will go away when you finish them. Has your Doctor explored all the options to help you with your vision , and the antibiotics for your infection ? He or She could contact the Hospital for you to make an appointment with an Eye Specialisst if they have not done that already.Maybe contact the Aplastic Anaemia Society. I think if you contact them you will find someone who can talk to you and give you more advice.Have you spoken to your parents or another adult who can help you with your GP and the Hospital ? They could contact the Head of the College on your behalf and tell them that you will need extra time to complete your work as you are recovering from your eye infection as well as your Anaemia. I am sure they will be very sympathetic. I hope you manage to get all of the rest you need and concentrate on your studies later when you are feeling better.Take care, you will improve daily and I am sure you will feel a lot better soon.
Hi, I read your post and had to reply although not a Student, just looking for an answer to a question . I hope your Doctor is giving you all the best advice, and, hopefully your Anaemia is just caused by the Antibiotics, if it has come on suddenly.] Look at the Aplastic Anaemia Society. You might be able to find someone to help you there and at least someone to talk to for adviceHave you explained to the Head of your College that you are suffering, and that the illness is affecting your ability to work at the moment ? I am sure they will be sympathetic and give you extra time to complete your work. There may be a Counsellor at the College who will be able to talk to you and help you through your current problems. It is best to concentrate on getting better, and, when you feel ill take the time to rest as best you can.I hope this helps you, and you continue to get all of the help you need from your Doctor at the Surgery and Doctors at the hospital. Could your parents or other adults help you by contacting the Doctors and the Head of your College ?You have not wasted your life, and you still have a lot to look forward to, so I would say to take care of yourself , rest, and get all the help you need.
