Economics Books to read

Hi, I’m applying for economics at university and am writing my personal statement. In the summer I chose 2 books to read that I could write for my Personal statement, and one was Freakonomics. It was then later that I found out many people talk about freakonomics in their personal statement, and many admission tutors don’t like to always hear about students reading freakonomics.

Is their any books people recommend, that aren’t so common that I can read and put on my personal statement

Thank You x
Yeah don't write about Freakonomics. It's a terrible book. What specifically interests you about economics? Is it development, labour markets, monetary policy, game theory? Read something about that and write about it. They don't necessarily want a list of books you've read, but they want to know why you're interested in studying it.
You can also watch online lectures/listen to podcasts etc
