I can't believe how quick the time is going. When do people normally start looking at the second year housing of university

It depends on where you're at uni and how much student accommodation is available. I'd suggest starting browsing in November with a view to signing contracts after Christmas. If there's any estate agents who specialise in student accommodation round where you're studying, I'd recommend you talk to them regarding what's normal with this sort of thing.

Between now and Christmas. Ideally you'd want it sorted before the Christmas holidays, but it depends on your area. My friends and I started looking in mid-November and didn't get it sorted until mid-December, and we were being told that we were quite late. A lot of houses in the area we were looking in were already taken. We definitely felt very pressured.
