I'm 19 and passed my practical driving test a few days ago, 2nd time lucky.
I heard there's a passenger restriction ban, I've searched up for it but I am continuously finding contradicting answers

Some places I found say there is a 6 month restriction for drivers under 24 year olds, who cannot carry more than one passenger below 20 at a given time 11pm-6am

Others say there is a 12 month restriction with another restriction time zone

What is the rule for new drivers?

Thank you

I've never heard of this? I had a google and found an article saying that this was the case for new drivers in Northern Ireland but I don't think this is true for new/young British drivers.
It also depends on the insurance you have. Some insurers have curfews etc.

If you're mainland UK then the only restriction is a 2 year period with only 6 penalty points.

If you're Northern Ireland you have a Graduate Driving Licence which has a passenger ban except for family I believe, along with loads of other restrictions such as curfews.

There were proposals to introduce the graduated license in the UK to this year but seems to have been put on the back burner for now due to the mess with Brexit.

Not the case in Great Britain at all.

I'm not aware of any such restriction in England. For the rest of the UK, that'd be something I'd have to look into.

To my knowledge, this law hasn't come into effect in Northern Ireland either

You sure this is in the UK?

There really was no mention of this during my theory and practical.

There is no such restriction in England and Wales. I know that there are graduated licence schemes in other jurisdictions, but in England and Wales once you have passed your Class B driving test you are a fully fledged driver.

Drive all night with a car full of teenagers if you like.

This only applies to motorbikes and mopeds, I think.
