It feels awful misogynistic and degrading towards women, I can't help but feel like it creates a false outlook on relationships between men and women.

To quote Dr Gregory House - "If porn is bad, why are there so many nuns in it?"

Pornography becomes a negative when consumers of it have no context, and no awareness of the issues surrounding it. Watching porn would much less of an issue if everyone is well educated, and knows it’s fiction being produced to interest consumers, not a textbook for how to act in real life. It needs to be less of a taboo to talk about, improving awareness and sex ed would go a long way.

No its not at all. Thats like saying violence in movies or video games makes people more violent in real life. Your basically make the same argument evangelicals made towards rock music.

You are comparing apples and oranges. From a very early age we learn that violence is a bad thing. When you play a game we haveva context based in reality that tells us that the game is pure fantasy.

As a society we don't talk about sex to our children yet they are full of urges and curiosity. A massive entity that fills that void is porn and without context based in reality youngsters are left to conclude that women should be submissive in sex and the aim of sex is primarily to please the man.

POrn gives the viewer a skewed view of a normal sex life. And young men who watch it can, but not always, put pressure on girls to be doing the things they’re watching. Girls then post here, anxious and hurt because the relationship is a mess as they won’t d what’s expected.
In damaged individuals watching violence does lead to real life violence just as porn does lead to rape. Obviously it’s a small minority
I’m concerned with the people who work in the industry. How many feel they have no option. How many are forced. What it does to them as people.
We need to talk to young people about sex so that’s it’s not hidden and becomes warped
But that will not rid us of porn

Various falsehoods in what you said. Firstly it isnt apples to oranges its just a comparison that makes you understand how bad your position is.

When you watch porn you have context that tells you that what you are watching is pure fantasy like the ridiculous story lines, or you know the fact that its very obviously two actors acting out a scene as opposed to a real scenario; so for this reason what you say is invalid.

"As a society we don't talk about sex to our children yet they are full of urges and curiosity."
We actually do, I dont know how old you are but I had various sex ed classes. But even if we don't, we dont need to specifically educate children about what you prudishly define as "degrading sex". The reason is we already teach them the principles that they can use to figure out its bad on their own. Just like how you dont need to teach a teenager that murder is wrong, because you have already taught them in early child hood the principle of respecting other peoples free will and not hurting others.

"A massive entity that fills that void is porn and without context based in reality youngsters are left to conclude that women should be submissive in sex and the aim of sex is primarily to please the man."
Completely false, a huge amount of porn flips the dynamic completely and therefore again what you say is wrong. But more importantly you are just completely talking out of your ass. There is no evidence to say anyone reaches that conclusion from porn at all. Moreover even if one did there is no evidence to say once a one actually met a "non submissive woman" they would not reasonably come to the conclusion not all women are submissive. Also evidence shows that vast majority of women do actually want to be the submissive sexual partner(i can provide sources for this after you show yours). Finally I dont know if you have ever watched porn but the female actors act as if they are enjoying it so there is nothing in porn to tell you that conclusion.

Lets just be honest here, admit it you follow a pseudo religious radical ideology and have literally no proof other than what some random man hating feminist told you was true. None of this is backed by science, none of this is backed by any reason; this is all circular reasoning you have to already believe to accept. If im wrong prove it in your response with sources and evidence.

So you get to rant on as if it’s all factual but expect those who disagree to provide evidence?
Where’s all yours? It’s just your opinion and as you’ve said, that counts for nothing

Story lines? Do you only watch porn from the 70s? Have you seen the kind of porn you get from the likes of Pornhub?

If this is true, how do you account for the fact that in my school kids believe you can't get pregnant if you aren't married? And our sex ed programme goes over and above that prescribed by the government.

(Original post by josh75)

We teach kids how not to wet themselves. We teach kids how to eat. We teach kids to cross the road. We teach kids right from wrong.

Why not teach about sex, pleasure in sex and respect?

Did you see that programme a few years ago where 14 year old girls were asked about expectations in sex and all felt it was normal for men to c*m on their faces? It was a given that that was what loving sex was about.

Again, see my previous statement. We could teach kids the theory crossing the road and then let them figure it out but we don't for good reason. The consequences of poor sex ed are wide and far ranging depending on the individual.

I believe in education. I believe that in sex everything is equal and that anything goes as long as it is consensual. If you could tell me why that is man hating I would be very appreciative. But as a teacher of young people, I see the consequences of a screwed world as perceived in the media and porn industry in our young people. How is your view informed?

What makes it worse is the type of porn that’s being published nowadays. Most of it is incest based

Lmao obviously I know it’s actually not incest. When someone watches a porno with the title “stepson fu*ks mum” or something like that, it’s constantly going to be in the persons mind isn’t it? Overtime it may even normalise it for someone

Yes but the huge amount of family oriented porn which is appearing is alarming, go to any porn site and there'll be at least 1 vid of the type on the homepage. Bear in mind many porn viewers are pretty much kids/young teens, who can be easily influenced, how do you think their going to grow up when they associate step brothers/sisters etc. with sex?
