what are the appropriate considerations needed to be taken into account when selecting a sample size.

Is the sample size representative of the population in order to draw valid conclusions to your research question
Awareness of variance - Population size is not always an issue, its the variance that needs to be considered e.g. the diversity in the population.
if the population is diverse then you will need to measure more of people to capture the 'atypical' as well as the 'typical person'
