I havn't got any brothers and sisters, I'm an only child.
I'd definately say I am typically like an only child and am quite similar to a first child really.

I'm from a family of 3 other siblings and I'm the youngest. Strangely enough none of those ring true for us.

more like..
first:
thinks he knows it all, but is really a bit dim.
Returns home after leaving home so many times
second:
Laid back attitude in life, first to own property, works and knows how to party

I'm not sure as the age gap between me and my older brothers is 10 years. So I couldn't comment on the oldest and middle child. BUT, I know for sure that I, being the youngest, have none of those bad characteristics for the youngest child. I'm not undisciplined or irresponsible, I consider myself the opposite. And I'm definetly not easy-going at school, I rack my brain with knowledge and such. and I did mature quickly, I suppose to catch up with my brothers. spoiler? hmmm, Not really, I get a lot of things that my brothers didn't, but that's because things are cheaper now....

Things like the above just generalise people, so for most people it may be true or it may not. it really just deppends...

(apologies for the disorganised reply, it's 1am and I am tired and having to change the way I type due to a broken shift key. hehe)

Nah not particularly. Well, some of it is true, but then I can apply the same things to my little brother.

I'm the oldest - I used to be told to set a good example, but my brother has to do that for younger cousins.
I was treated like an adult earlier, but that's because I'm older. He was treated more and more like an adult at a similar age.
I'm a high achiever, but so is my brother. He's college bound too.
And we give equal responsibility, I'd say.
And we're both affectionate.

Then with the qualities of the youngest (I'll skip the middle one, because there's only two of us)...
I felt like he got more attention when I was little, but that's because he was a baby, and needed it. Now I see that we get equal attention.
And he's matured quickly, but so did I.
He's not undisciplined, nor is he easy going about school though.

They're just a generic list of qualities. It's like when you get the starsigns and a list of the qualities that go with each - some of them are always going to fit.

The youngest child bit seems true from me but i don't think any of the oldest child points apply to my brother. Some of the oldest child points apply more to me than my brother who is two years older than me but that may be because he is quite immature for a 23 year old whereas although i am also a little immature for my age if i wanna go out my parents believe i am more capable of looking after myself or i always have people around who are prepared to look after me. I think the reason we are both so immature is because we have both grown up quite sheltered, i had never been to a club til i started uni, my mates took it upon themselves to corrupt me when i got to sixth form, my first proper boyfriend was when i was 17 (that was late compared to all my friends) my parents always needed to know where i was going, what i'd be doing, who i was with, what time i would be back and if i needed a lift home, At age 17 in the winter unless i had made special arrangements i had a curfew of 10.30pm.

I have two older sisters so am ideal answering this .

The oldest child is:
1. Usually set up as an example to the other children.
2. Treated more like an adult by his/her parents.
3. A high achiever
4. Given and accepts more responsibility than the other
children.
5. Usually college bound.
6. Independent
7. Is affectionate
This is fairly true of my oldest sister. She was always pretty independant and keen to be treated like an adult. She's always been set up as the 'benchmark' as such for the rest of us - but I suppose that's quite natural with her being the first. Overall, she has achieved fairly highly in life, but with grades etc she's never achieved as highly as my other sister or myself - not that it ever mattered as everyone always saw her achievements (being the first) as amazing...

The only one that doesn't really fit is affectionate. She's never really been particularly affectionate but we're really not that kind of family....

The middle child:
1. May work extra-hard to get recognition.
2. Is usually a peace maker.
3. is somewhat average in schoolwork, but is an allaround
good student
4. Is usually a calm, even-tempered adult.
This isn't really my other sister at all. She's more of a mixture of the older characteristics and younger characteristics. She never worked very hard at school and was very lazy and easy going, yet still came out with very good grades (better than my eldest sister who is well known for being the 'trier' of the family). She's very argumentative and opinionated and definitely not a peace maker. She is a pretty calm, even-tempered person - but knows how to push everyone's buttons and does it very well.

The youngest child:
1. Gets a lot of attention, along with a lot of bossing.
2. May be spoiled
3. Usually matures quickly
4. May be undisciplined and irresponsible
5. Is easy-going about school.
And myself . True to an extent again but largely untrue again. I've never really been spoilt. Arguably more spoilt than my sisters but, to be honest, I think that's just because I've always got along with my parents better. I share more with them and they feel they can trust me. A lot of that is due to me being the peacemaker of the family. I hate conflict and hate seeing people upset. I did mature quickly - but I think that's goes without saying having two older sisters who you want to be 'friends' with. I wouldn't say I'm particularly mature for my age now though. In fact I'm highly immature in many ways. I've probably had more attention from my parents than the other two but, at the same time, when I was younger I was always left out in their games because I was too young.

As for the rest I'd say I'm responsible and, although admittedly not a great try hard, I've always done very well in school (better than both my sisters) and put the effort in when it's needed.

My family are odd anyway, so this doesn't really apply to me - I'm the eldest of my mother's children, but one of my fathers middle children.
