A single person in Britain needs to earn at least £13,400 a year before tax to afford a basic but acceptable standard of living, according to a new report. How expensive is your lifestyle?

This amount is enough to cover needs like food and warmth, as well as the occasional film ticket and simple meal out, according to a panel questioned for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

A couple with two children need to spend £370 a week excluding rent or mortgage payments, and a pensioner couple need £201, the charity says.

How much does your lifestyle cost? On what do you spend most of your income? What items in your budget do you consider to be essential? What do you think of the finding in this report?
