Teaching qualification.

I aim to become a history teacher and looking at which uni to apply to. It seems only Stirling offer teaching qualification along with chosen subject degree. And Strathclyde and Glasgow I would need to do my degree first and then do another 36 PGDE? Am I correct. I would much prefer Glasgow or Strathclyde but I don’t fancy another 36 weeks if I can qualify with Stirling sooner. Just seems a bit odd or have I got it wrong??

A quick search flags up that Wolverhampton also do a History with QTS degree. It is normal to qualify as a primary school teacher either through studying primary education with QTS or studying for another degree then doing primary PGCE, however this is not the norm with secondary education. Secondary school teachers mostly have studied their subject to degree level and then some PGCE as that's how the courses run - history with QTS courses are rare, as you've found out.
