being jobless or a freelancer in an unrelated job is better to be stated in the CV and the motivation letter while I'm applying for postgraduate school?

Ideally you wouldn't want to draw attention to long periods of unemployment - you should look into at least volunteering to fill your time. Freelancing in an unrelated job may be fine, given that you can talk about transferable skills you've acquired.
