Hi I've finished my contract and moved out of my assured tenancy agreement rented house on Monday. My landlady says that she can only check the house for damage/any deductions to my security deposit on Sunday or possibly later.
Is this legal? I know that I have to reach an agreement on the amount of security deposit but I'm unable to do so if she hasn't checked the house, any ideas??
Many thanks James

As far as I know she has 2 weeks after the end of tenancy to return your deposit (or decide how much she is going to return), but someone more informed might be able to give you a more definite answer.

If she's done the right thing and put the deposit in one of the schemes, then I think most of them say that a deposit should be returned within ten days of the end of the tenancy. Either way you can't really expect it back the day you move out, sorry.
