Hi there,

I am currently on my first term on a MSc Nursing preregistration course. I plan on withdrawing and making efforts to study a MSc pre registration in physiotherapy, and if I can't get into that, then occupational therapy.

My question is will I still receive full funding from SFE if I get a place on a 2 year postgraduate healthcare degree such as physiotherapy. Please note I have already received payments from SFE for the course I just started.

I asked SFE from twitter and apparently me dropping out won't affect me getting full funding in the future.

Hi Francis,

As long as your pre-registration Physiotherapy course is an exception, you withdrawing from your course will not affect you studying the new course.

Do you have a specific university and course in mind that we can check? Thanks, Tégan

Exception as in I haven't previously applied for student finance for MSc pre-reg physiotherapy? Would this apply for BSc physiotherapy also? Don't have any particular uni in mind at the moment but:

Hi, Certain pre-registration courses are exceptions so we disregard your previous study.
The link for University of East London did not work however the other courses show as eligible exceptions for the 19/20 academic year and likely would be the same for next year.

Thanks, Tégan

I just want to clarify. I am currently on one of those exception courses(MSc Nursing Preregistration) I have received an instalment of my maintenance loan already etc. I would Like to withdraw and study for a different course which is on the exception list (physiotherapy, if too difficult occupational therapy). Would you still disregard this course I am currently enrolled on if I applied in say 2022.

Your eligibility for a new exception course would not be affected by you withdrawing from your current course.
You may have an overpayment if you withdraw from the current course and this could be deducted from your entitlement for next year if it isn't paid back before your course starts. However, you may not have an overpayment and aren't required to pay it back in full before your new course if that isn't practical for you.
Thanks, Tégan

Hi francistheswole

Great to hear you are considering a course at the University of East London. Let me know if you want any more details or have any burning questions about the course, or life at the University in general.
