Mst Film Aesthetics/Mst Creative Writing [Oxford]

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about these two courses that doesn't appear in the postgraduate prospectus - basically, the student view! I'm very keen on both of them but I'm in two minds as the Mst Creative Writing is part time and I don't really want to do a part time postgraduate course. Is it worth it, or should I stick with trying for Film Aesthetics (which I'm also very keen on) as it's a full time course? Or is there any chance of Creative Writing becoming a full time course by the 2010-2011 academic year? (I'm looking early, I know...)

Please and thank you

The part-time Oxford creative writing MSt forces you to do fiction and poetry - were you interested in doing both? Because they don't allow you to specialise whereas pretty much all other creative writing masters courses let you stick with just one. I don't think there are any students that are have studied it on these boards, but you should contact Oxford and ask them if they are thinking of turning it into a full time degree anytime soon.

Have you look at UEA? Their MA in creative writing looks like an amazing course and they have some really good tutors. Warwick is also worth checking out.

Hey, thanks for the reply! I'm leaning more towards a film oriented postgrad course now, but I hadn't looked at UEA as of yet, so thanks and I'll make sure to have a look

Just to put in a good word for Royal Holloway's creative writing MA (and its poetic practice one if you happen to prefer poetry). Everyone I know who has taken creative writing modules has really enjoyed them.
