Hi I'm currently studying for a degree in International Relations. I have started thinking about potential careers for after I leave uni and am interested in teaching. Only problem is that I am mainly interested interested in working in a secondary school- does anyone have any idea what subject(s) I would be able to teach with my degree?

This is just speculation so don't hold me to it as I don't do IR, am not a teacher or interested in being one.

But I would think you should definitely be able to do history.

Then maybe also government and politics.

You might be able to do GCSE RE. Possibly also GCSE or under English or geography.

It also depends what you did at alevel- I beleive the rule usually is you can teach one step lower, so you should be able to teach any of your Alevel subjects at GCSE.

My advice would be to look at secondary school PGCEs and the requirements for various subject specialisms. Maybe email some admissions departments if the requirements aren't listed?
