Can a school force you to do AS instead of a full A level due to your grades ?

Do you mean taking AS exams first and then A-levels? Because if you want to attend university (in the UK) you have to complete a full 2-year A-level anyways

Yes they can. If you're doing four in your first year, many schools make you drop the one with the worst grades at the end of Y12. Rather a lot of grammars do it. However, if you start with 3, the school probably won't make you drop any, as they want you to get in to uni and most unis require 3.
